Virtual Tour of the Department
Through its three advanced majors in ADMINISTRATION OF BUSINESSES AND ORGANIZATIONS, DATA SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES, and DIGITAL MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION offered during the 6th semester of study, the Department of “Management Science and Technology” of the HMU in Agios Nikolaos provides specialized knowledge that cannot be found in any other higher education institution in Crete. The students of the Department will have the opportunity to decide on the major they wish to follow in their 6th semester, at which time they will have acquired the necessary knowledge to be able to choose the one that suits them best. The professors of the Department have conducted substantial research recognized by the international scientific community and have received research distinctions. They are also excellent teachers, known for always being available and accessible to their students.
Curriculum
Our modern curriculum provides strong foundations not only in finance & administration but also in IT, with topics such as information systems, e-marketing, and specialized software. It also offers knowledge that allows our students to understand international markets. This combination is the basis for modern management and enables modern business executives to develop effective strategies and decision-making skills that will be very useful in today’s competitive and globalized environment.
The curriculum is based on the contemporary international trends of the so-called “4th Industrial Revolution” and incorporates new technologies, thus providing the graduates of the Department with a competitive advantage in the labor market, not only in Greece but also in the now globalized business environment.
Integration into the Workforce
Our Department offers the same professional prospects and has a corresponding study program to that of the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). It belongs to the 4th scientific field (Technology and Informatics) and boasts one of the highest employment rates in the country. As long as they use their degree for professional purposes in the public or private sector (Law 2515/1997), the graduates of the Department can be registered in the Chamber of Economics, just like all graduates of Economics Schools or University Departments that will be established or converted into Economics Departments.
According to a recent Workforce Integration Survey, 88% of former Business Administration graduates are currently employed. Thanks to the general education provided by the Department, graduates can be employed in various different types of private and public companies, such as hotels, banks, organizations, telecommunication companies, the industrial sector etc. They can also occupy positions in administration, marketing, and public relations, as well as work as management staff, sales managers, information systems managers, etc. The Department often organizes events, such as lectures on contemporary business administration issues, career days, etc., all aiming to establish connections with businesses and educate its students.
Facilities – Location
It is a completely new, modern, and competitive department that is designed based on the current needs of the market, and provides its graduates with a competitive advantage in the labor market not only in Greece, but also in the now globalized economic environment. It is housed in new state-of-the-art building facilities covering a surface area of 5,000 sq.m. in Lakonia, Agios Nikolaos, on a plot larger than 20 acres. In addition to the classrooms and the 4 fully equipped laboratories, said facilities also include an amphitheater of 200 seats, a library, and an indoor gym.
